About
This utility can be used to calculate the required VMware vSphere and vSAN licenses for clusters.
How to Use
Enter the cluster details and select license level to estimate licensing.
Column
Description
vCenter
For associating the clusters to a specific vCenter Server and licensing domain. Important for the embedded vSAN licenses of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
Cluster Name
vSphere cluster name. Will use a randomly generated name if not changed.
Hosts
Number of hosts in the vSphere cluster.
CPUs/host
Physical CPUs installed in each cluster member.
Cores/CPU
Number of cores for each CPU of the cluster members.
Heterogeneous clusters are not supported with this tool.
vSAN
Toggle if the vSAN service is enabled or disabled on the cluster.
vSAN Disks
Number of disks per host that are claimed by vSAN.
Disk Size (TB)
Raw size of disks claimed by vSAN for capacity.
The tool will automatically convert to TiB.
License
VMware vSphere license edition for the cluster.
vSAN Capacity
This tool limits the available embedded vSAN capacity from VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) to the licensing domain of a single vCenter Server.
When using VCF as a procurement method, multiple clusters can be placed within the same vCenter inventory; when deploying VCF as a SDDC platform, each workload domain must be managed by its own vCenter Server.
